What is “Unmasked” Data?
The receipt and review of “unmasked” data files is often necessary for the process of conducting due diligence. An “unmasked” data file is defined as any data file containing information that could identify an individual debtor. This information may include name, social security number, address, phone number or any other personally identifying information.
Any potential buyer that wishes to review unmasked data prior to the purchase must meet all of the qualifications below before being given the privilege of an unmasked data file review. Some sellers may have additonal requirements but, all buyers receiving unmasked data files must:
No Cherry Picking
Since the CMAX NDSE allows buyers to purchase individual accounts, it is important that we maintain an even playing field among all of the debt buyers on NDSE. To maintain this level playing field, CMAX has introduced the “all or nothing” policy for reviewing unmasked data. When a potential buyer receives an unmasked data file to review they can no longer select individual accounts within that file and MUST either purchase the entire group of accounts included in the unmasked file or none of them. No buyer may “pick and choose” accounts after viewing unmasked data.
A buyer may purchase fewer accounts than contained in an unmasked file only when the accounts not purchased were either removed from the website or purchased by another buyer. Buyers found in violation of this policy will have their transactions cancelled.
